The resort
Palmería means a grove of palms. Ours is a private resort of a Spanish-style residence and casita wing, an outdoor kitchen pavilion, an indoor tennis court and a waterfall pool, set on more than two acres with the San Jacinto mountains on the horizon.
It is made for groups and for long stays: tennis in the morning, long tables at night, and enough room that a family, a team or a wedding party can each find their own corner. Winter and seasonal stays can be arranged.
The resort, place by place
The indoor tennis court, air-conditioned
The signature of the resort: a private, full-size indoor tennis court inside its own pavilion, with oversized doors that open to the desert and air-conditioning for midsummer afternoons. Few homes in the valley have one.
Play a morning set, then walk to the pool. The pavilion also makes a dramatic setting for a private dinner, a tournament weekend or a reception.
The main residence · Six bedrooms
The heart of the resort: a 4,344 sq ft Spanish-style residence of terracotta floors, arched doorways and timber beams, set behind a vine-covered courtyard and a carved wooden door.
A chef's kitchen with a granite island and professional range opens to living rooms and a long dining table. Six bedrooms include a primary suite and a bunk room that sleeps ten, and covered patios wrap the back of the house.
Two king casitas · Game room · Fire lounge
A long, low adobe wing set beside the pool with its own sitting room, billiards table and sliding doors to the lawn. Beyond it lie two king-bedded casitas with private bathrooms, tray ceilings and polished concrete floors.
At the far end a pergola-shaded fire lounge with deep seating and a television makes the evening gathering place.
Outdoor kitchen and covered dining
A shaded pavilion built for long meals: a grill and bar with a warm wood-topped counter, an outdoor kitchen, ceiling fans, a television, and one table long enough to seat the whole group together.
At dusk the string lights come on and the pavilion glows across the lawn.
The pool, hot tub and gardens
A long pool with a cascading waterfall, a sun shelf of in-water loungers, a jetted hot tub and fire bowls that light at dusk. Wide lawns run toward the mountains, with cornhole, ping-pong and room to spread out.

Location
Palmería is in Bermuda Dunes, about a hundred miles east of Los Angeles and a short drive from Indio, La Quinta, Palm Desert and Palm Springs, with the San Jacinto mountains on the horizon.
Golf courses, spa resorts, Old Town La Quinta, the Living Desert Zoo and Gardens, the tennis season at Indian Wells and the valley's festival weeks are all close by. Back at the resort, you may not want to leave.
